How can I get a remote Gnome desktop from my Ubuntu Hardy Heron server (no monitor) on my iMac Intel client (OS X)? They're both on the same ethernet LAN.
When I use SSH through the Mac X11 terminal, Gnome appears to launch. I get a full 20 inch screen Hardy Heron background--but no Applications, Places, or System menus. Then, when I shutdown the server, I have the following message on the X11 terminal screen: ** (nm-applet:5860): WARNING **: <WARN> nma_dbus_init(): could not acquire its service. dbus_bus_acquire_service() says: 'Connection ":1.26" is not allowed to own the service "org.freedesktop.NetworkManagerInfo" due to security policies in the configuration file' Does anyone know how to find the configuration file and what it should look like? I've also tried VNC but can't get that to work unless I connect a monitor to the server, which sort of defeats the purpose of the remote desktop from my point of view. Also, using VNC with the spare monitor, the Gnome window on the Mac appears to be limited to the resolution of the spare monitor. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Linux Users Group.
