well i'm totally new to the idea of wireless speakers. but if sound worked
when it started up and ubuntu can detect it, then it must be something to do
with default configurations of the system on the install. I'm guessing that
the sound worked in the live version right?
be sure and install flash and things so that these things work. it should
tell you when your browser attempts to visit the site that ubuntu doesn't
have the software to run like "third party applications missing" or
something. install all of those. they don't come by default. and oh yea, i
had trouble with sound to. it could be something as simple as (depending on
whether you use 9.04 or 8.10) either right clicking or clicking the speaker
icon at the top right and going through the volume control to see if
something is muted, or tuned down, or simply not enabled. additionally, if
you have an ATI radeon card, which are so popular, it's likely that someone
else does as well. you should google for "driver for (part model name)
ubuntu"

anyway... is there anything that i missed? yea, i understand you wanting to
move to mac. just know that if you can get an image for xp, you could
actually dual boot xp and ubuntu and enjoy the advantages of both. just know
that mac charges for a quality product so that's expensive, and windows
charges for a piece of crap, and that's annoying and pointless. eventually
you will have to move to something else.

from what i've heard, windows 7 isn't significantly different from vista or
any of the others. also, it's heard to be outrageously expensive. i'm
guessing that it is a prettied up version of all the others, and it's still
vulnerable in many of the same places.
