I agree. I don't express "love" (the feeling) over microprocessors though. I
appreciate them. Be it Intel or AMD.

However, in these hard times one has to really rethink his options. I've
been a satisfied AMD user. My previous setup was an AMD Duron 850 with 256
MB of RAM. I've been using that setup since 2001 with no let-up.

Recently, I decided to upgrade. Was thinking long and hard whether to go for
an Intel-based setup (microproc and Mobo), or go AMD-based. I choose
performance as top option, then cost, then support (drivers, etc..). Cost
for Intel is steep. My point went to AMD. Performance-wise, I dont need much
since I dont really do heavy gaming - only compiz. I decided to go for Emaxx
MC61P and using AMD Athlon X2 64bit 5200. Please spare me the "litany". I go
for cost savings anytime rather than the debatable "heat", etc... Athlons
now are relatively quiet and cooler. I dont even hear that my PC is on. :-)

Bottomline? Saved lots. I'm happy. I got my Ubuntu Jaunty + Compiz running
on an onboard nVidia GeForce 6100 graphics chip, and an AMD X2 64bit
processor. Im satisfied.
