Hey guys, I m suffering from a serious problem in Ubuntu. I m using
Ubuntu ultimate edition 2.2. I hope u provide me your best suggestions
and solutions. I have described the problem in detail below.

At first, this message appears in the Ubuntu file loading screen.

Unclean shutdown, checking drives                               40 %( stage 1/5)
                /dev/sda5

Then after following messages appear in black screen.

Checking drive /dev/sda5:                                       40% (stage 1/5, 
86/100)
/dev/sda5: In odes that were part of a corrupted orphan linked list
found.
/dev/sda5: UNEXPECTED INCONSISTENCY; RUN fsck MANUALLY
 (i.e. without –a or –p options)
Fsck died with exit status 4
Checking drive /dev/sda5:                                       40% (stage 1/5, 
87/150)
 
[Fail]
*<the Astrix is red colored> An automatic file system checks (fsck0 of
the root file system failed.
A manual fsck must be performed in maintenance mode with the root file
system mounted in read-only mode.
*<the Astrix is yellow colored> The root file system is currently
mounted in read-only mode.
A maintenance shell will now be restarted
After performing system maintenance, press CONTROL-D to terminate the
maintenance shell and restart the system.
Give root password for maintenance
(Or type CONTROL –D to continue):


When I enter in recovery mode then following message appears:
Checking root file system
Fsck 1.41.4 (27 Jan, 2009)
