Hm. Tried 'tar -x...' and that didn't work, I still have the same problem (cursor blinking forever). I had omitted the hyphen from my first attempt because of this line in the man page:
"The first argument to should be a function; either one of the letters Acdrtux, or one of the long function names. A function letter need not be prefixed with ``-''..." Other thoughts?
