The fedora kernel u downloaded shud work fine. kernel is 
independent of most user-space, especially commercial 
applications. it may hamper ur networking modules though if 
u r an administrator and the kernel that u downloaded may 
or may not have certain modules compiled by the original 
distributor of tha kernel, u know, modules such as QoS or 
iptables conntrack, so the original Rhel kernel is safer 
and guaranteed to work. but for the majority of cases, 
which r device independent, such as MySql, qmail, etc, ur 
downloaded fedora kernel shud work as if nothing happened. 
such is the modularization of linux kernel and user space 
apps.
