>I downloaded kernel-2.6.17xxFC4.i686.rpm from Fedora projects The fedora kernel u downloaded shud work fine. kernel is independent of most user-space, especially commercial applications. it may hamper ur networking modules though if u r an administrator and the kernel that u downloaded may or may not have certain modules compiled by the original distributor of tha kernel, u know, modules such as QoS or iptables conntrack, so the original Rhel kernel is safer and guaranteed to work. but for the majority of cases, which r device independent, such as MySql, qmail, etc, ur downloaded fedora kernel shud work as if nothing happened. such is the modularization of linux kernel and user space apps. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
