So there's a difference in the packages. Not a hard conclusion though ;)

It's a target for us in Debian, currently, if we get to have some
xorg.conf.d from the X guys, then nobody will actually have to write
anything nor editing any file to get a tablet working because they may
just be shipped in that dir.
