I dont actually understand some of what you're saying (about udev, symlink). I am using Archlinux and udev is used by default. I was just going with the documentation (the readme that comes with the linuxwacom package and the information on the home page). The readme states that evdev is required for hotplug (but maybe that's different from unplug-replug). But upon attempting to build the package there is a message that says evdev is no longer necessary for kernels 2.6+. >When you unplug your tablet the device for it (eventX) will go away and X has >to close the device. On the linuxwacom homepage it states at the top of the page that the current driver "Support[s] tablet attach/detach while X driver running (Christian Lupien)." so I wanted to know why it didn't seem to be true anyhow. >If you don't think that's good enough and are willing to risk a kernel oops or >two you may try to use a kernel module I've been writing, see earlier posts >by me on this list.
