Yeah, the installer is quite nice. And you are right, it is just a nice 'configuration tool' if you want - it still uses wine in the end. I was just hoping your problem might be a simple configuration issue... As for where it goes wrong, I am not so sure. My guess is between X and wine, assuming you have the pen working in X. Maybe try to get some other application under wine working with the pen and see whether it works or not. If you have the same problem, it's wine. If not, it's photoshop...
