No, Roger, I just run into a lot of list admins who know how their
users think, even though they never talk to their users. and that all
of their users are stupid. I assume the sofware is instead, and try to
make the software smarter.

And I spend a lot of time talking to users, watching how they use the
software (and try to), and asking them what they like, don't like and
get lost using.

And if that is the Chuq model, well, either you like it or not. But
tough. I see a lot of folks on this list guessing what works for users.
I try to find out what reality is. You're welcome to listen or not. I
frankly don't care.

I'll do the list and you a favor and go shut up again.

But when someone says "I tried it for a brief time, then tossed it", it
indicates a lack of committment to making it work. Sometimes, you
simply have to put things in place and let them happen. Unless you want
them to fail. then you can cut things short and declare victory.

Do you know why it didn't work? Did you survey users? Gather any data?
Study usage patterns? Did they not like it? Didn't see it in the
documentation? Why? Was it presented wrong? Hidden? Even in failure,
you can find out how to succeed. Or don't bother and give up.

Oh, never mind.
