It didn't work because .00001% of the other systems on the net work that
way, and 40% work with subscribe/unsubscribe commands buried in a mail
message, so they never tried it, no matter what documentation and help
messages said.  Surveying subscribers isn't the useful part; it's
not-yet-subscribers that are the useful ones.  As for the actual
subscribers, they didn't use xxx-unsubscribe because it wasn't what was in
place when they signed up for the list, even though they received several
updates telling them about the new way.
