I've never seen that done. I'm not saying it is a bad idea. For very low volume lists it might help (but periodic reminders, like mailman's, will also do the job). Fist reconfirmation 3 month's after subscription, second one 6 months after first. Third and subsequent ones, as annual. Do your users really want the reconfirmation?
