That's a great explanation Conan--particularly since this came up in the context of using Java, a very typical scenario with CF/Java applications is that the backend is in Java, and CF is used for the presentation layer, for example from data presentation forward. There was an article about this sort of scenario in a CFDJ a year or so ago--I'll see if I can hunt it down.
