Personally, I'm all for #3 there... EPIC is already an excelent client,
but it's being held back by it's ties to ircII. A re-implementation would
allow for some VERY interesting features.... And you're just the person
to do it!
The idea of supporting other scripting languages is interesting... And
has some definate possibilities... But EPIC4's scripting language is a
rather unique beast... Which parameter passing and so on can be much
improved (particularly in the area of security), don't loose the wonder of
it... However, the idea in general is very nice... A stronger
scripting language with the facilities of EPIC4's scripts, in a cleaner
and more consistant form, with actual parameter passing rather than
fudging things with "'s and ^'s, would make an excellent "default
scripting language", supplied with the client. Especially if it was
byte-compilable. ;)
That and the potential to break out of the ircII mould, is imho too good
an oportunity to miss. Sitting on this list here is a vast range of
skills, views and experiences. How about seeing if they can't be put to
better use, with the freedom born of a new evolved client? And if it's
nicely modular in nature, then we might be seeing a client to rival both
mIRK and BitchX on their own terms... ;)
