Yes recolors, minor vars and ver.2's extend the lifetime of a design.
But you are still staring at a shrinking market in the face. I am
part of the fraction that will start to lose interest once 0079 is
done in HGUC. Bandai will have to do something very special for me to
buy yet another 1/144 Gundam (hmm Gundam + Core Booster pack would do
it for me).

In fact I am almost there already. The old Zock is very serviceable.
The old Acguy is clunky but it would be preferrable to a supersized
Acguy. EX is taking care of the non-humanoids; (Samson looks
fantastic!) oh I gotta finish the Gunperry.
So when HGUC vanilla Gelgoogs come out I will start to retire from
gunpla. Looking at that robo-sumo video from a while back, I could
help but think gunpla is really 20th Cen. kiddie toy, it's about time
to move on!

Funny someone mentioned the 08MST line. I actually remember it was
around 15 Oct 1998 when I picked up a HG Gouf Custom in Tokyo. That
model is still standing on the shelf and honest to myself my skills
hasn't progressed much in 8 years. Damn I am getting moody, is it
side effect of finishing the Dom?
