I've often wondered why there haven't been any animated side stories for the 
other time periods.  0083 is as far along the time line as any of them go, 
which is fairly odd when you consider just how much time is available for side 
stories and new minor content.

With regards to Macross Zero, it's not as if there's much else to make.  iirc, 
the series had two conventional fighters, two transformable fighters with 
possible variations on the VF-0, and exactly one destroid model.

While I won't argue that it would be nice to see more mecha that played minor 
roles, first you actually have to have mecha that play minor roles.  And the 
setting of Macross Zero didn't exactly allow much of a role for units that 
couldn't fly.

Macross Plus doesn't have that excuse, of course.
