Right on. I think it's no accident that 08MST and 0080 both had good
stories and not so many brand new designs. But unfortunately the main
trend is AoZ and MS Igloo, minimal story, all new mechas, collect em
all!
Ya, when it turns into toy machine then it suffers too much. Same thing
with working on movies. Where are the action figures?!? There are so
many areas to pull from, the timeline is long and there are loads of
locations in which to base stories.
Like your point about Macross clones too, so a Macross 0080 would star
a vanilla Regult against a Uber-Valkyrie right? That be pretty cool
;-)
Hmm, I would say that *my* side story for Macross would involve the ARMD
orbital carriers, the Mars base, lots of Destroids (so more of an 08th
MS Team deal) while also showing more behind the scenes of the enemy
giants, male and female and normal Navy life. I mean, those two arms
for the SDF-1 came from *somewhere*, right? Those couldn't be the only
two useful capital ships on Earth.
