You know, I think at least some portion of the hardcore gamer population is coming around too. I'm certainly not as hardcore as I was when I was younger, but I still consider myself part of the gamer demographic. I think what is happening is that a lot of people who have become jaded with games as being just more of the same - where we're expected to shell out $400+ a year on new video cards, or $600 for consoles (thank you, Sony!) - yet all we're doing is playing the same game at a higher res and with more polys. Aside from my own personal addiction (strategy games, which don't really demand incredibly graphics) some of the titles that I've had the most fun with haven't exactly been graphical sensations: Katamari Damacy, Tetris DS, Animal Crossing, etc. > The SD game looks nice. I'm actually thinking that the Wii-mote might actually solve the traditional problem of poor 360 degree control in traditional Gundam action games, especially in space. There could be the potential there for feely free form mobility and camera controls.
