And in many cities in the US (Los Angeles, for instance), it's illegal to sell toy guns that even remotely resemble a real gun. Any toy guns have to have bright colors on them. The reason is that the cops have occasionally been called by people who mistake toy guns for the real thing, and people are worried about the cops shooting someone that the cops mistakenly believe is carrying a real weapon.
