And in many cities in the US (Los Angeles, for instance), it's illegal to sell 
toy guns that even remotely resemble a real gun.  Any toy guns have to have 
bright colors on them.  The reason is that the cops have occasionally been 
called by people who mistake toy guns for the real thing, and people are 
worried about the cops shooting someone that the cops mistakenly believe is 
carrying a real weapon.  There may have even been a couple of incidents where 
people have been shot after jumping out at the cops (in the dark, not realizing 
that the cops were even in the area) with realistic appearing toy guns.
