fortunately, the series doesn't generally require you to keep track of a
half-dozen different Tachikoma personalities or it'd be impossible to
keep track of them.
Are there that many? I can only ID a "uppity/curiosity kills the
cat", a "metaphysical/ontological so-and-so wrote a book about the
meaning-of-everything", and a
"I-will-follow-this-dopey-girl-all-over-town" and of course "Batou's
best friend".
Actually I think I brought up GITS as an exception that proves the
rule: the series deliberately makes it difficult to track the
individuality of the Tachikomas because it wants to challenge the
audience's assumptions about individual identities. In 2nd Gig the
whole series is devoted to the individual vs. collective problem.
Otherwise, stick with film-making conventions.
