One Piece doesn't inspire me, but Naruto ain't bad. It's like a more
restrained DBZ with cleaner animation and better story arcs. Granted,
it's not clear what these ninja *do*, as it sure ain't sabotage and
espionage, but eh.
Is there any daylight between the two??? In 1P, at least it was
interesting to see how each apparently invincible villain could be
defeated in the end. I think I must have watched almost 20 episodes
before it got unbearably boring. But for Naruto, I can't make it
past 5 episodes (not from the beginning). It just seems like what you
get if you remove every last drop of humor from The Tick.
Eh. Can't really stand 1P (character designs bug me, and
romanticization of pirates *really* bugs me), but Naruto seems to
work okay. Dunno what to tell you.
FMA was good enough that I don't care. It stands on its own.
Fine I just mean that I hope FMA will have a lasting effect on anime
like, supposingly, Gundam did for mecha and NGE did for ... eh...
psychosis?
Heheh, that's about right. The Evangelion revolution sparked a few
imitators, but didn't really go anywhere.
Second Gig didn't help GitS any. I mean, SAC was phenomenal -- solid
plot arcs, good characterization, and a kick-ass finale. But Second
Gig...eh. The characters were less interesting, the plot arcs were
lame, and the fate of the Tachikomas was both unnecessary and
depressing. I've little interest in the show now, as all of the
elements that made the first season so cool are gone.
Hmm I haven't seen the end of 2G yet... but I think can understand
where you are coming from...
SSS continues Tachikomas development after 2Gig, you might want to
check it out just for that.
It's worth a look, then, but even still it won't be the same
tachikomas. Irksome.
Mmmm. It's good to see Togusa getting his due, but I fear it will
wind up being the Kusanagi show just like 2nd Gig did. That might be
Sec9 under Togusa is very different from under Kusanagi. I at least
respect the writers' attempt at trying something new. If you are
expecting a big ending like in the original GITS movie or SAC, you
will be disappointed.
I know better by now. And I'm glad Sec 9 has Togusa's stamp, since
it's be a real police force with him at the helm. Rock on.
okay if she developed a personality, but I'm not holding my breath.
Well isn't her lack of a personality her personality? ;-)
That seems to be how she's billed, at least. I grooved on it
initially, but tired of it quickly. My interest in GitS was sustained
by Battou and Aramaki and Togusa and the Tachikomas, and thank God
for them. I'd have been bored to tears otherwise.
