The key is to demonstrate that you own the hobby not the other way
around. Holding down a steady job and/or maintaining good grades at
school, eat right, exercise regularly etc. If one can demonstrate he
can (or has potential to) discharge his responsibility as son,
husband, father, citizen etc; then a hobby or two is well tolerated by
the ladies. Hack, I've seen girls attracted to gamblers, model/toy
collecting is far more benign (perhaps too benign).
But monster kits are still a bit iffy, maybe I can't shake the Asian
mentality of "living space is precious".
