Perhaps it would be a easier discussion if someone is so kind to list
out all the V2 (1.5) and the Ver Ka.
>>>>>>>>>>

RX-78-2 - Version 1
RX-78-2 - Version 1.5 - Incorporated new legs but otherwise the same as the
version 1
RX-78-2 Ver Ka. - Version 1.75? - Just a retool of the GM ver Ka. into a
Gundam. Almost a color variant in a way.
Full Armor Gundam - Version 1.76? - Totally retro look
OYW RX-78-2 - Version 2 - Retooled the whole kit to increase poseability
everywhere.

Zaku II F - Version 1
Zaku II F2 - Version 1.5 - Total retooling for a Ver Ka. release.
Zaku II - Version 2.0 - Total retooling of the original Okawara design.

Gelgoog - Version 1
Gelgoog - Version 2 - I am hoping for a total retooling of the original
Okawara design.

RX-178 Mk. II - Version 1
RX-178 Mk. II - Version 2 - Total retooling to incorporate the improvements
engineered for the PG release.

Zeta - Version 1
Zeta - Version 2 - Total retooling for transformation, and kit, stability.

I am not that sure Zaku and Gelgoog are so needy of a V2, actually...
And Mk.II V1 also was decent enough on its own, I'd imagine. So I
think V2 selection is probably not based on subpar quality of the V1
kit (e.g. Zeta V1), but on the popularity of the MS. If that's true,
then something like MG Sazabi would not see a V2 despite it being (I
heard) a poorly implemented MG kit.

With each generation there have been significant engineering improvements.

While I think some of the original kits hold up well, others don't.

I like the look of the original MG Zeta and Gelgoog, but they are the
floppiest MG kits I own. I don't play with them a lot, and go to efforts to
keep them in good shape but they are still floppier then a dishrag.

I love the original Zaku release, but the cabling was an excellent idea that
failed miserably in practice. It is still a great kit, but I think they
have learned a lot since its release so I think the version 2 is a good
thing.

The original RX-78 was OK, but I think that its lack of consistent internal
skeleton parts made it pale in comparison to the Version 1 Zaku.

The RX-178 Mk II didn't need a version 2, but it isn't a bad thing to have a
new interpretation of the kit.

As for the Sazabi, I loved it. But I think a key thing is that all of the
kits that currently have a version 2 release are on the cheaper end of the
MG pricing spectrum. The Sazabi on the other hand was almost in the low PG
price range. People are more willing to shell out $40-50 for a version 2
kit then they would for a $100+ kit. I think it is popular, but not enough
to justify a version 2 with an even higher price. But they could go the
Nightingale route...
