Let's start with just a clean list and see what comes of it. The
discussion, IIRC, is on what may be the upcoming V2's...

Full Armor Gundam - Version 1.76? - Totally retro look

I assume you mean the Perfect Gundam? I'm inclined to leave it out,
firstly it's a different MS (FA-78). Secondly, if you want to argue
that there's a RX-78-2 underneath there, it's still basically a V1.5,
right? Only some re-engineering was done purely for the purpose of
providing hardpoints for the FA gear. Hmm actually I could be wrong,
as HS shows that it looks like the HGUC or even a more retro look than
HGUC itself.

IMHO, a kit only count as V1.x or V2 if it's the same MS, and
introduce retooling/re-engineering that's not inherently required.

OYW RX-78-2 - Version 2 - Retooled the whole kit to increase poseability

Ha! I've quite forgotten this kit...

Zaku II F2 - Version 1.5 - Total retooling for a Ver Ka. release.

Not counted, as it has a different model number, and the retooling is
_required_ by the lineart.

Also we are not counting Wing Gundam Ver. Ka and Ball ver. Ka as there
were no V1 to begin with, agreed?

RX-78-2 - Version 1.5 - Incorporated new legs but otherwise the same
RX-78-2 Ver Ka. - Version 1.75? - Just a retool of the GM ver Ka. into a
Perfect Gundam - Version 1.76? - Totally retro look
OYW RX-78-2 - Version 2 - Retooled the whole kit to increase poseability
Zaku II - Version 2.0 - Total retooling of the original Okawara design.
Gelgoog - Version 2
RX-178 Mk. II - Version 2 - Total retooling to PG version
Zeta - Version 2 - Total retooling for transformation, and kit, stability.

Let's see 4 retoolings for Gundam, and 1 each for Mk.II, Zeta, Zaku
and Gelgoog. Somehow I don't buy that for all the Gundams, the
original, Mk-II and Zeta are the top three
most needy for an upgrade and for all the mono-eyes, Zaku and Gelgoog
are the top two needing upgrades. And that, of nearly 100 MG's,
original Gundam was the only one they screwed up the first four
attempts to make a 5th version necessary. Except for Gelgoog, the
other V2's are obvious choices without even ever looking at the V1.

As for the Sazabi, I loved it. But I think a key thing is that all of the
kits that currently have a version 2 release are on the cheaper end of the

Well a good test of that question will be the ZZ Gundam.
