Yes and no. Polls on the American attitude toward Iraq seem to suggest that while a lot of Americans are unhappy with the course of the war in Iraq, their opinions are also a lot more complicated than straight "up/down, yes/no" sorts of responses. And Congress's approval rating is even lower than the President's, and has been for at least a few months now.
As for the new show? Somehow I doubt that the "four Gundams against three nations" plot will still be on track by the end of episode 26. Something somewhere will cause the show to jump the track, and we'll see a single enemy that everyone can feel safe in pointing their fingers and hissing.

Not really. There's a reason Bush's approval rating is so low, and
why significant portions of his own party have broken ranks with him.
Most of us really don't think we should be mucking about in other
countries unless provoked (i.e., overwhelming support for war in
Afghanistan, tepid support, and ultimately outright hostility toward,
war in Iraq).

It was SEED's main gig, too, at least when it came to Kira.

That does sound promising. I wonder how much screen time any one
mecha can get, though; how can you really nail a style with so many
Gundams vying for attention? But then again, this is the director of
FMA we're talking about.
