The fatal flaw of ICANN, and of the "self-regulation" policy that led
to its creation, is that it allowed a single faction (basically, the
ISOC-gTLD-MoU-CORE group) to name the CEO and interim board
unilaterally. This board is now in the process of implementing its
factional agenda as quickly as possible, before the organization
actually has to become accountable to a membership and before a DNSO
or PSO or ASO can seat board members that were not directly selected
by them.
