I support this statement of yours.
Already three months ago I raised the problem about the Singapore meeting,
saying that we may find ourselves with more to do than time to do it (and I
am afraid that we are going to make the same mistake for Berlin, considering
that May 24 is a public holiday in Germany).
But this is something we knew already: ICANN's intention to schedule *all*
SOs & Committees on the same day was known since end 1998, and I don't
remember anybody besides me raising the problem then. It is a little bit too
late now.
Maybe we can pro-actively suggest a different schedule for Berlin?

As much I agreed with your first statement, so much I disagree with your
second statement (and its "hidden" implications).
How could, in your opinion, supporters of the BMW draft provide their input
in the ICANN Membership meeting? What about those who don't have chosen a
side, or that are deeply involved in stopping this nonsense of alternative
drafts and working towards a common solution - how could they participate in
the ICANN Membership meeting without renouncing to participate in the DNSO
meeting?
Probably Esther Dyson, who could not possibly be everywhere as she probably
would have liked, is the first victim of this schedule.

Roberto
P.S.: Joop, I assume you will be there - do you like beer?
BTW, I will be at the Marina Mandarin starting Monday evening - I would love
to meet in person with all those of us who will be there. Drop me a message
in the hotel - I don't know if and how often I will read my mail over there.
