I'm opposed to this, and perhaps my reasons may stimulate dialogue.

be made available.
I completely agree with this statement. The solution to spam is not hiding our identities. The solution is outlawing
unauthorized data mining, unauthorized profiling, and fraudulent email.
Many perople have addressed the question of fraudulent solicitations,
so allow me to focus on unauthorized gathering of personal information.
Your identity and activities belong to you, the creator, as in copyright law,
and use of that personal information should be controlled by you alone.
Agreed. And as you know we have had some of this going on in a publicIf I'm doing something of interest to you, that plainly could benefit you,
odds are that you'ld be quite glad to be in my database if periodically i'd
email you about matters that you're glad to know about. But collecting info
about people without their advance permission is a violation of their privacy
rights (unless a person is rationally supected of illegal activites, of course).
Not recognizing this fact of personal ownership of personal information
is why all these privacy infringments are so vexing and pernicious.

Personal information that pertains to an individual or their
business
relationships is protected under law and is not the right of anyone
to
have just because they wish to have it or have some suspicion themselves
for whatever reason. If they have a legal entity determine that
there is
a need for that information than that is a different matter entirely!!
SuchYes it sure does. As again we have seen on this very list...
a privacy policy scares the direct marketers, data exploiters that they are.
Your question is vexing in a way. Let me try to answer it. If byOne other point.
Those doing business in the public arena need to be openly identified.
Those who wants to obscure their identify, for whatever purpose, make
themselves suspect. Psychology 101. Would you do business with an
e-commerce website without knowing where your money is going?
(If individuals want to be anonymous, they can use Hotmail etc.)
asking exactly where the money goes would I do business with a
e-commerce website ( Entity ) than I would answer, yes I would.
If by asking if they are legitimate business, than my answer would be no.
This question that you pose Ken, also touches on some business
practices that e-commerce websites may or may not practice as well.
So I would ask a follow up question that has no correct answer, but
rather one that is dependent on what the potential customer determines
is reasonable for them. Is it necessary for all e-commerce business's
to have all of their corporate information regarding their company
referenced on their website or even readily available to everyone
through other means?
