I'm sure this has been said before in messages I deleted earlier, but
it's really simple:
If any listmember finds another member's posting unpleasant, a waste
of bytes, boring, etc. then in the future just hit the delete key
without reading their posts. 
If they post too often or your delete key is getting too much use then
set up filters.  Its easy to do with most of the common e-mail
packages and/or integrated browser/e-mail environments.

End of story.

The amount of time that is wasted by people discussing the behaviour
of others astounds me.
