Well I would not necessarily label all as such. At most conventions and such you see presence from Fortune 500 employees. Now I can't say the same holds true for user group meetings. Possibly not as much value there, or at least perceived value. > They have laid off 3 people from my > original team of 8 and cut our on call staff to 2. Thats not uncommon, they likely care less about Linux or any platform them run. Its just means to an end, way for them to conduct business, cut back expenses, and make more money. If it's good for other people, awesome :-) Sure, and we are more than likely to change days and remain in the evenings than during the day. However it is up the group, and if more are on board for days vs night, that just might happen. Though would be great if we could swing both and get the LUG really active and making a difference in the area. > > > > Still need to see about organizing an install fest some day... > > Got any ideas on a place? Only the obvious, Peak10, but I think we might have an issue with bandwidth. Some what limited bandwidth there :) I am open to entertaining other places though, and there are likely other places. Might be an event we coordinate with an education institution and collaborate with students. Helping them with installs, etc. Last time it came up, someone posted a link to another LUG. Who had a ton of machines show up from business in the community and otherwise. That would be really great if we could manage such. Not sure how to get the word out to companies. But I bet if a company could get the LUG to do a bunch of installs vs them paying people to do it. Then we might have a way to get our foot in the door. Many ways to engage both local business and educational institutions. -- William L.
