As always thanks for your reply. You've been very generous with your time in helping me figure this stuff out. Below is my "Exception Time Object"
Exception_ID
ExceptionTime
ExceptionType
ExceptionDate
UUID
PostBy
PostDate
So a single objec would look something like this
auto id number
2.25 (hours)
Meeting
1/25/06
cd1234 (user id)
cd1245 (posted by user id)
2/2/06 (postdate)
So what they want wand what I've developed is the ability for them to enter a range of dates. so now there is a form that will have this data in it
auto id number
7.5(hours)
Meeting
1/25/06 (start date)
1/30/06 (end date)
cd1234 (user id)
cd1245 (posted by user id)
2/2/06 (postdate)
So after the form is submitted there will be 5 entries in the database, one for each day. I have the query done, and the function working in my Gateway cfc, but I do not believe that is the right location.
Does that make sense?

Ryan, I have no idea what your model looks like, but If I was designing that system from scratch I would have an Event object which could be of type vacation, meeting, etc. Then give it a property of StartDateTime and a property of EndDateTime. It is still a single "thing" no matter how many days/weeks/years/decades/millenia it covers. Does that jive with your model?

I am building an time reporting application where our employees can enter times such as vacation, meeting etc. I have my Beans, my DAOs and my gateways, everything is working wonderfully. But now they want an enhancement. Right now you can enter in one day at a time. Now they want to be able to enter time period instead of one day. So instead of say vacation for 8-5-06 they want to be able to enter in a form 8-5-06 to 8-20-6 vacation. Which makes sense really. What I'm struggling with is where does this function fit into an OO CFC design? Does this type of query go into the Gateway object? Or do I just loop over my DAO object? Surely I don't loop over the DAO object.
Any thoughts?
