I'd second Dave's ideas--if it's something that has a date/time span,
then just have a startDate and endDate (or startDateTime and
endDateTime, or a combo of separate date and time attributes depending
on your needs ...) and you're good. No looping involved, and I would
think it makes sense to have this as part of your "event" object since
it's an event attribute when you think about it. If there is no span
involved you'd just use the start date/time.

Ryan, I have no idea what your model looks like, but If I was designing that
system from scratch I would have an Event object which could be of type
vacation, meeting, etc. Then give it a property of StartDateTime and a
property of EndDateTime. It is still a single "thing" no matter how many
days/weeks/years/decades/millenia it covers. Does that
jive with your model?

Ok Everyone,
I am building an time reporting application where our employees can enter
times such as vacation, meeting etc. I have my Beans, my DAOs and my
gateways, everything is working wonderfully. But now they want an
enhancement. Right now you can enter in one day at a time. Now they want
to be able to enter time period instead of one day. So instead of say
vacation for 8-5-06 they want to be able to enter in a form 8-5-06 to 8-20-6
vacation. Which makes sense really. What I'm struggling with is where
does this function fit into an OO CFC design? Does this type of query go
into the Gateway object? Or do I just loop over my DAO object? Surely I
don't loop over the DAO object.
Any thoughts?
Ryan
