Cookies could be an easy and good option, i used to use them, but, nowadays, with diffent users, and different tools for avoiding popups and cookies because of viruses, i had many troubles for controlling client state, other trouble we had with cookies managing, was some IE/Netscape Clients kill cookies, i don't know why, but it happened frequently.
Today we prefer initiate a client session and using CFAPPLICATION. We assume every time that the user login in an application, its a new session, this is working good to us, if the user open a web browser and try to open a second webpage we first validate that the session was initiated correctly, if not, then we send the user to web login start. Just use browser memory cookies instead of file persisted ones, then when the browser is closed, the cookies are gone and bye bye login session. I use this is all my applications. I personally don't see the point in persisting cookies to user's computer for login sessions. If you're using JSession, it's that way by default. HI All, If a user logouts via the logout screen all is fine. However, if the user justs quits(kills) the browser what happens to the session variables? They seems to still exist. How can one detect that the browser is dead?
