Dave,

In principle I agree with you, ColdFusion is not dying. Please note: I
heard from a friend the other day that a company headquartered in the same
building was looking to hire fifteen COBOL programmers. So I guess its a
bumper market for COBOL too.

 Eric,

My point is that if it was dying, then demand should go down, even if the
general job market is going up. For example, I can't see that the Clipper
job market is going up along with the general job market. It has been dying
for years (if not already dead). I'm sure that those on this list that have
programmed in other languages say, 10 years ago or more, can think of
languages that are really 'dead' or 'dying' that aren't offering MORE
opportunities, whereas ColdFusion IS rising with the general job market
which tells me, it's right on par with everyone else.

Of course, that said, ColdFusion will probably never be installed in as
many environments as .NET simply because it's not Microsoft and for some
reason, alot of IT departments do alot of things just BECAUSE they are
Microsoft. I'm a fan of MS in some places, but not in others. Some people
just need to be more objective when it comes to them and determine which
software package fits the needs instead of just saying, "let's make that
Microsoft package do it." Now I'm digressing....

The job market is pretty great for job seekers right now in general, not
just ColdFusion, so I don't think that the anecdotal evidence is really that
relevant. And it isn't just limited to IT. I just hope that things keep
going even after the presidential election.
