Johnny,
We've got something we call PageHistory.cfm. It runs in the
Application.cfm and in the OnRequestEnd.cfm. It records data about what
page was called, what user id called it, how long the page took to run,
what URL or Form variables there were... stuff like that. Then we've
also written something we call the activity monitor. It allows us to
easily search through the database that PageHistory writes to.
Also, to cut down on the number of writes to the PageHistory table, we
store all page history hits to a structure in the application scope,
then every five or ten minutes (or half hour... I don't remember) a
scheduled task takes all that data in the structure and dumps it to the
db in one big whack.
Also, our activity monitor program allows us to manually dump the
PageHistory structure to the db whenever we want.
This sort of thing also allows us to see long running pages, and has
been very helpful in troubleshooting.
Is this the sort of thing you're looking for?

ok...looks like I didn't give you guys enough info on what I need.
I need to be able to programmatically detect when certain files are
executed for auditing purposes.
additionally,
I need to be able to log when I user modifies a record within a
table....and since there are MANY tables in the application where I
would care to capture that info, I'd rather simply detect when event
occurs rather than explicitly creating logging routines for EVERY
diff. instance.
clear as mud now, right?
So...I need to be able to determine what files have been executed (not
to mention - what queries have fired) during an http request.
Thanks

I realized after posting my previous reply that you probably wanted to
know what cfm files where included. The HTTP sniffer will only help
with things like images and CSS or Javascript included files.

You might consider using an HTTP sniffer. I'd recommend trying
TamperData for Firefox (http://tamperdata.mozdev.org/index.html).

Interesting.
However, I do not wish to create an arbitrary error to capture a list
of executed files, if it can be avoided.
Surely there is something else I can do...

I was fixing a bug in a bit of a convoluted application created by
another dev in my company who had recently left the company and
intentionally placed an error in a page where I wanted to track what
the order of execution was to get to that page. This information can
be found by enabling robust error information or using a try/catch
block and dumping the cfcatch results.

Anybody know of a way to detect what files have been executed on an
http request? (includes, custom tags, etc.).
Thanks again,
