Here's another CFEclipse question. I personally hate when any IDE
auto-closes things for me especially quotations. So, I know how to turn
these off for CFEclipse, when when I'm in that perspective, and I'm
editing some inline javascript, all of a sudden the IDE is auto-closing
stuff for me again! Grrrr.
I've looked in the general editor settings for eclipse itself, but
couldn't find a way to turn this behavior off. I've downloaded JSEclipse
(thanks for the suggestion Mike!), and I seem to have control over
auto-complete stuff with .js files, but still not in a .cfm or .cfc file
when coding between script tags.
Anything I can do about that?
Oh! And how can I import/export snippets?

Great to
see new faces and some that we hadn't seen in a while. Here is a short
recap.
To start off the meeting, I gave a short presentation on converting a
traditional procedural application to one that uses OOP concepts by
way of
talking to Beans/DAOs/Gateways. My goal was to convert our little
mini-app
in under 10 minutes starting with no CFCs, which I came pretty close to
meeting even with the discussion. We wrapped this portion of the
meeting
right on time and went into Mark Drew's presentation on CFEclipse at
7PM.
Mark gave a great presentation, but as someone who has been using
CFEclipse
for several years now, I would be interested to hear what you non-CFE
users
thought about what he showed? Not a bad IDE huh? Even to those of
us who
have been using CFE for some time, I think all of us (aside from Mike
Kelp!)
saw some features that we didn't realize were in there I recorded the
presentation and will be posting a link to it later today assuming
all went
well recording it.
After the meeting, we did a raffle for the $2000 limit Adobe
software which
was won by Joe Kelly! Congrats Joe. We also passed out quite a bit of
other Adobe swag, including shirts, some really cool Adobe mugs,
little mini
laser mice and more.
After the raffle, I offered to continue upon my earlier presentation
for
anyone interested in staying. Having a few takers, I took the
application
that we had converted to using objects at the beginning of the
meeting, and
turned it into a Mach-II application. We had some great questions
during
that period and I hope I made the case of how a framework such as
Mach-II
can benefit your development. I will be posting that code later
today as
well for anyone who wants a peek.
Thanks to all that showed last night. I hope the crowded room
didn't scare
you off, and please know we want you there and will shoot for a
bigger spot
as soon as we can.
