Hi,

is it possible REBOL Technologies will introduce some kind of "hardware"
(port) communication protocols? I mean - parallel, serial, usb for e.g.

I know it is plaform specific issue, but well, we are already ready to
break the paradigm. Or at least, REBOL Tech. promissed to produce
versions of REBOL containing even platform specific issues. I don't care
my PalmPilot (just example, I don't own one :-) doesn't have usb port
the same way, as I don't expect it to perform fast 3D, as my desktop
computer does. We are talking about various purpose devices here, so why
to expect the same and united REBOL to exist for all of them?

I am no hw guy, but as our astronomy group folks are going to build own
CCD camera, it would ge interesting to be able to load some %serial.r
module, containing some abstracted software aproach for serial port
communication for e.g. Having that possibility, together with
rebol/media, we could probably build simple software solution for
maintaining our camera, taking image, and sending it to some place via
Internet, as that is what REBOL does well today. Even special purpose
dialect could be created :-)

And as merely every REBOL platform OS knows how to communicate with
serial or parallel port, it could be merely multiplatform solution.

Wouldn't it open new possibilities and new area of usages for REBOL
itself?

Anyone dares to comment my insane thoughts? :-)

Regards,
