I thought the Creative Commons licensing is meant to be more of a template, as far as legalese goes. Many use it as is. I believe it comes in three different flavors, and the whole idea behind it was to give different degrees of protection, ie;, whether one is permitted to make copies, distribute, make derivatives, etc... I don't think it's an approach to protect one's designs as much as it was an approach to share one's work with others and to spell out the terms in doing so. It does not replace copyrights - it's a terms of usage license...

What are your views on a 'Creative Commons' license? [ www.creativecommons.org ] Seems a reasonable idea to me, though I don't really grasp the full implications of rdf data yet. I presume that one could use this approach to protect one's designs? Anyone done it? Any pitfalls? Any standards issues? -- Best Regards, Bob McClelland Cornwall (UK) www.gwelanmor-internet.co.uk ****************************************************** The discussion list for http://webstandardsgroup.org/ See http://webstandardsgroup.org/mail/guidelines.cfm for some hints on posting to the list & getting help ****************************************************** ****************************************************** The discussion list for http://webstandardsgroup.org/ See http://webstandardsgroup.org/mail/guidelines.cfm for some hints on posting to the list & getting help ******************************************************
