OSX 10.4.8, using Safari 2.0.4(419.3):

My tests show that "transparent" works better than opaque for Safari. The flash movie itself acts a tad bit funny, but only because I am using actionscripted dropshadow...

Draw your own conclusions I guess... Looks to me that opaque works better in the versions of Safari I tested.
