Yes, yes, we understand the issue--we just disagree totally that
"ignoring it is not an option".  It's the best option.  We have no
reason at all to expect anyone will have such a directory.  And if
they do, they have no reason to expect Binc IMAP to export it.

By your own long experimentation with Courier, you have shown
that Courier IMAP is "braindead" with this directory present, so
the fact that we sensibly and correctly ignore it is a distinct
improvement.  We should treat the directory ./.INBOX exactly as
if it did not exist, and we will see nothing but correct behavior
from the server under all conditions.
