that part works. for the record, i'm on a small private network testing
this and i had to to do:
{host/notls}INBOX
and then later in the config i had to to
disable-these-authenticators=PLAIN
to allow plain-text authentication on port 143.

but *where* should i 'maildirmake' those maildirs? with what filenames?
i have tried ~/work/, ~/.work/, ~/Maildir/work/,and ~/Maildir/.work/
(from the example above), with pine config lines that look like:
incoming-folders=work {localhost/notls}work
incoming-folders=work {localhost/notls}INBOX.work
incoming-folders=work {localhost/notls}.work
none of these seems to work.

this doesn't work in pine for me (and doesn't seem to work under courier,
either--is this a pine setting problem?). i do 'l' to get to folder
collections, select the inboxes, type 'a' to add, '^x' to add on the
current host, type some string like 'work' for a new folder and i the
folder created in pine, but then it immediately errors with:
'Create failed. Invalid mailbox "work".'
then a few seconds later it says:
'folder {localhost/notls}work created.'
but when i try to view it i get:
'SELECT failed'.
there appears to have been no maildir named work created anywhere.
suggestions, anyone?
thanks,
t.
