The errors (readchar EOF) that you see in your logs are caused by your
client disconnecting from the service unexpectedly. Many clients do this
instead of sending a LOGOUT command first.
Besides being too verbose, these lines of log data are almost useless for
the administrator. In the next release, the log data will be more readable
("client disconnected").
On improving performance, there are no settings that improve performance
other than the "transfer buffer size" setting. Is the service slow?
