The response from Binc using IMP was quite slow. I wasn't sure wether to put 
it down to IMP or Binc...

Anyway, I have just upgraded the ram in both our web server & mail server. As 
it is the school holidays there is no load, but I personally has noticed a 
quicker response...

 The errors (readchar EOF) that you see in your logs are caused by your
 client disconnecting from the service unexpectedly. Many clients do this
 instead of sending a LOGOUT command first.
 
 Besides being too verbose, these lines of log data are almost useless for
 the administrator. In the next release, the log data will be more readable
 ("client disconnected").
 
 On improving performance, there are no settings that improve performance
 other than the "transfer buffer size" setting. Is the service slow?
