Software (aka file) inventory every 7 days (or just plain... off) is OK.
Hardware inventory every 7 days... personally that is a bit "too" long for most
companies to like how dated the information is.  Hinv is where you get things
like "what's in add/remove programs".  You *might* want to consider bumping up
Hinv to "every 6 days" (for a week), then "every 5 days" (for a week), and
monitor in between each time frame that you increase the frequency, until you
get back to daily... or until you find "omg, every 3 days is the limit we can
handle, then our environment is just so underpowered that things start to fall
apart".
But daily hinv I think most environments can handle just fine.

{}-->In case anyone is interested, Microsoft resolved the issue. Apparently,
since we had our HW & SW inventory set to run daily, the server wasn’t properly
running the dbo.CH_SyncClientSummary stored procedure. We manually ran it and
inventory data is showing correctly in the console now. We also changed our
inventory schedules to run every 7 days, which they say should resolve this
issue going forward.    Mike    From: [email protected]

Subject: [mssms] Before I open a support ticket with MS...    Quick background
– our NTP time server went down for a short while a couple of months ago. As a
result, we had wonky timestamps in CM. Some had the year 2034. We worked with
MS and they were able to clear this up.    Now we have a new issue, and they
want us to open a separate case to address it (even though I believe it’s a
direct result of the work they already performed). Our hardware and software
inventory in the console only goes up to 6/30/2015 (the day they worked on our
server). I can see newer inventory when I open resource explorer on machines,
but it’s not showing in the console. Policy requests are showing current dates.
Any ideas of things to try before I spend any more money with MS?
