Ditto to don't get a Drobo. In my past experiences I have been able to literally kill Drobos with overuse. Drobo support would replace them, and I would kill them. In the meantime, the initially sporadic but increasingly consistent failures caused some catastrophic business continuity issues.
I dealt with fighting with many Drobo devices for a period of two years managing backup services for many different clients.
