Steves,
My gas bike is a 1974 R90/6. I think it was one of the last models with
both kick and electric start. Great bike, I just love the thing. I
thought of a BMW conversion myself. Don't know about battery space
though. My Kawasaki KZ 750 conversion bike has a nice wide cradle for
batteries, the /5s and /6 bikes look like they don't have near as wide
a cradle, but you could have batteries sticking out. I really like the
S fairing I have on my BMW, maybe I'll buy one and somehow modify it to
work on my Kawasaki.
Mike,
Very interesting information. I wish I could find a power timetable on
the Optima YTs (assuming your using D34s) to compare them to the
batteries I plan to use. This is kind of a relief to hear how much
range you get, but at what speed? I will be using eighteen B&B
EVP20-12 (20 ah 12v) batteries which should provide about 5220 watts
for .5 hours http://www.bb-battery.com/productpages/EVP/Evp20-12.pdf .
I'm hoping for 18 miles range.
