Other than the fact that they kept it legally in the class of an electic bike I don't see anything impressive about this. I have a two wheeler (motorcycle) that can reach close to that speed at 48 volts (I have it at 54 volts so it can top 60) and it is licensed and legal to ride on any rodes.

I guess their point was to get it going that fast with such low power consumption, but they made up for being underpowered by being overengineered and I'm sure over priced :-)

I know that this is a bicycle with "usable pedals, but
with the faring and the fact that it was able to go
58.6 mph; I believe it deserves notable mention.  It
was able to do this with the a sequential Rohloff
14-speed gearing system they were using, two 500W
motors, and a 48V at 40A using NIMH.
