I think the speed is very impressive, but if you look at the wording carefully...
"*no more than 1000 Watts of rated electric motor power and working pedals." and "*40 amp rated 48V NiMH pack" Two 500 watt rated motors can deliver alot more than 500 watts peak. Amps are a lot different from amp hours. 40 amps times 48v is 1920 watts. If you train for burst power on a bike you can produce a lot of power for a short time. * ***
