The UK flying mile record is about 80mph and the FIM (world) record is indeed about 130mph. Mike Corbin (the same Corbins who failed to make the Sparrow) is supposed to have achieved 175mph in 1976, but I haven't been able to find out who sanctioned and timed the run(s). These records were all set in the semi-streamlined class, where the rider must be visible from the sides and top, with the exception of the riders hands.

You can get to 140mph with just 20bhp and full streamlining, if you get your aerodynamics right.
