What options are there for controllers for a brushless Etek? I have seen the specs for the Sevcon one but I haven't seen where I can get one to run the full 48 volts. Who else makes one? I am also (just kill me now) pondering the idea of starting an open source project to make one. I have developed DSP firmware for this type of motor before using the TI 2812 series chips but on a much smaller scale where the motor was about the size of half a beer can and drew 1 amp max. So I am aware of the issues involved and also that handling 300-400 amps might involve some challenges on its own.
I have a 3KW reference design kit from ST Micro. http://www.st.com/stonline/stappl/cms/press/news/year2006/p1762.htm ( steval-ihm005v1 ) This should be able to run brushless Etek, at lower power of course. Havent got a motor to test with though. Does brushless Etek have embedded hall sensors ? -kert
